Who am I?
My name is Mark Alvaro.
First and foremost, I really want to join the Math Twitter Blogosphere!. I love reading through all of the #MTBoS tweets, and I often find myself hopping between different math teachers’ blogs. I can’t believe how awesome my fifth year of teaching ended after finding so many awesome tools, ideas, lessons, and assessments on the internet.
I first heard about the Math Twitter Blogosphere when a teacher in my state organization (WVCTM holla!) presented a session on it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend, but I asked my friends about it, so basically I was there!
I am especially interested in using the blog to reflect on what’s working and what’s not with my teaching. Hopefully I can make something useful along the way!
What do I plan to blog about?
Of course I have some grandiose plans: reviewing math resources, presenting ideas for problem-based learning, discussing hot topics in the field, things that interest or irk me, and hopefully posting original lessons, tasks, problems, etc.
What should you know?
I teach math and computer science courses a high school in Morgantown, WV. I am a shameless Google and Android fanboy. I am the Webmaster for WVCTM! In my spare time I enjoy binge watching Netflix anything (who doesn’t?), learning to code, reading, video games, and guitar.
